Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

Celaena’s epic journey has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions across the globe. This fourth volume will hold readers rapt as Celaena’s story builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

Yes, it was that good.

Yes, it was that torturous.

Yes, it was that emotionally scarring.

What you need to simply know is that THIS IS A FANTASTIC BOOK! But if you’re a Sarah J Maas fan, you are probably aware of her awesomeness.

Throughout her series, the drama, the questions, this whole world just escalates into something you cannot even verbally comprehend anymore. This book will change and when you finish, it will emotionally dump you while silently chanting, “HA HA, YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR FOR MORE.” Not nice at all.
Just warning you – I am warning you to mentally and emotionally prepare yourself for this book because it will involve your whole being. You won’t even know you’re literally living until you finish this book. That is how intriguing and captivating this novel is.

As always, Aelin (Celaena) is awesome. I cannot even begin to describe how amazing her character development has been since Assassin’s Blade. In this book, she is different. She has accepted the responsibility of her heritage and with this, she has Rowan, Chaol, Aedion, Lysandra (yes!) and Nesryn (new character) behind her back. Her court has assembled and they are planning to kick ass: kill the King, save Dorian and save Adarlan. All in a day’s work, eh?

We see Manon again along with other new characters like Elide and Nesryn and just like any other Maas character, they will capture your heart with their tragic back stories and inner heartaches. Characters from Assassin’s Blade – Aronbynn and Lysandra – also return, playing a large part that will bring back some memorable feels (SAM!) and make you curl yourself in a ball with joy and maybe also grief.

In this book, SO MANY THINGS happen. I’m not spoiling anything but this novel builds up to an amazing climax. Throughout this big-ass book, answers are revealed, more questions are raised and all of this builds up to an end that will MAKE YOU CRY. There are awesome fighting scenes that will BLOW YOUR MIND, romances that will MAKE YOU SWOON and small plot twists and scares that will make your heart miss a beat.

It is absolutely out-of-this world the way Maas can create such 4 dimensional characters within this vivid world intertwined with this intricate plot plus a fantastic style of writing. I mean, I have not seen another author who can draw me in and crush me so much as her books have.

Get ready for a ride full of emotional turmoil and out-of-this world adventures!!! This book will not fail to make you laugh, cry, jump for joy and snap at people to shut up because you’re reading – that’s what I did.

  1. Everyone seems to be fangirling over this book like crazy! I am seriously thinking it might be a bit of a crime to mention that I have never tried a book in this series yet! I am hoping to read the first book at some point though because I just know I am going to fall in love with it and fangirl like everyone else seems to be doing already 😀
