I wouldn’t call myself a real photographer.
Neither am I an expert or even a talented beginner. I’m just a plain amateur.
Like a REAL AMATEUR.
I simply like taking photos. Full stop. I like clicking that bottom and watching a moment escape oblivion. And it’s a pretty amazing feeling.
That feeling is even better when people upload them. When someone other than me recognises that the moment was the right one to capture. It’s like “whew, that shot wasn’t as horrible as I initially thought.” Plus, when someone uploads them as a new Facebook profile picture or a cover photo, my heart does a little happy dance.
But then some evil thought comes to mind. Every time this happens, I never get photo credit. For those of you (uneducated -jks -) people, ‘photo cred’ is pretty much acknowledging who took the photo. You see, I photograph mainly friends’ parties because I simply enjoy the practice. It also gives me a reason to NOT be in the photos and leave a conversation when it gets too boring.
Haha, I am an evil one but come one, conversations are exhausting.
Anyway, I can’t deny that I would like photo cred even if its a simple statement like FAITH TOOK THIS AWESOME PHOTO! So now, I’m in the process of designing a simple logo to watermark my photos. I’ve read on some photography blogs that its a really egotistical thing to do that only experts should venture into but I would basically like people to recognise that my photos are mine.
Complicated shit, huh?
That was sarcasm, by the way.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
DO YOU THINK WATERMARKING IS A GOOD IDEA?
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON PHOTO CRED?
